We earn a commission on some links

PackPop takes part in affiliate programmes. If you follow a link from this site to a shop and buy something, that shop may pay us a commission on the purchase. It costs you nothing extra: you pay the shop's normal price, exactly what you would have paid going there yourself. The commission comes out of the shop's side of the sale, not yours.

The shops we can earn from are:

• TCGplayer, through the Impact affiliate network — the “TCGplayer” and “Buy” buttons on card, sealed, set and precon pages, and the deck-list link that loads a whole want-list into a cart.
• eBay, through the eBay Partner Network — the “eBay” buttons and menu items, which search eBay for the card or product you were looking at.
• Mana Pool— the “Mana Pool” buttons and menu items on Magic cards.

Not every one of those programmes is active at any given moment. When a programme is switched off here, the link still goes to the same shop; it simply earns nothing. Either way the destination and the price you see there are the same.

Nothing about which cards, sets or products we show you is influenced by what pays. Rankings, trending rails and expected-value figures are computed from prices and pull rates. There is no paid placement and no merchant pays for a position.

There is also no checkout here. Every buy button leaves for a shop, so we are not a party to your purchase: the order, the payment, the shipping, and any return or dispute are between you and that shop, under their terms.

Where prices and availability come from

Every price and every bit of stock information on this site belongs to the shops and data providers we link to — not to us. We copy it in on a schedule, so what you see here lags the shop and can change or sell out at any time, including between the moment a page loads and the moment you click through. Treat a price here as a recent reference, never a quote or an offer. The shop's own page is the only authority on what a thing currently costs and whether it can still be bought; if the two disagree, the shop is right and we are stale.

A card with no recent sales may show no price at all rather than a guess, and a sealed product that has been delisted may resolve to a search instead of the exact listing.

Pull rates come from the published pack configurations for each set. Where a set's configuration has not been published, we show no odds rather than estimate them.

What expected value does and does not tell you

Expected value is an average across many openings. It is the right number for comparing products or pricing slots in a break. It is the wrong number for predicting the box in front of you: most boxes come in under EV, and a few come in far above it. That is how the distribution works, not a flaw in the figure.

EV here also counts only cards we have a price for, so where some of a set is unpriced the figure is an under-estimate. Pages that compute EV say how many cards were missing a price.
